The challenge for the ’24 D&AD New Blood brief for Durex was to find innovative ways to overcome a sexual barrier. So, we decided to tackle the most common, and most prohibited, sexual fantasy.
Public sex.
Introducing, “The Play Pods” : Durex´s domes for feeling like you’re having sex in public without actually doing it.
In the UK, public sex is defined as having sexual activity in places there’s a high chance you might get seen. So, we found a legal loophole, and created a dome designed to avoid doing just that.
A reflective glass casing and complete sound isolation masked everything going on behind closed walls. And from inside, a crystal clear view allowed for users to get the full adrenaline rush of public sex safely, cleanly, and undisturbed.
We put the pods in the top public sex locations across the UK. We even crafted subtle, downloadable stickers to invite someone to try the pods out with.
Mastering the art of public sex, we hid in plain sight.
With everyone outside undisturbed, and everyone inside feeling seen without being seen, we made the most common, and most prohibited sexual fantasy, a reality.
